Broll Mountain Vineyards

Broll Mountain Vineyards is located in the heart of the California Gold Country in the charming town of Murphys.  The twenty-five acre property is reminiscent of Tuscany, with twelve acres devoted to growing ultra-premium grapes.  BMV’s vineyards consist of old world and Rhone Valley varietals of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, and Roussanne. The vines are carefully pruned and thinned during the growing season, leaving only the very best for wine production, resulting in low yields of world-class grapes.  In addition, over two hundred special olive trees are planted on the property from which the Broll Mountain Vineyards extraordinary extra virgin olive oil is made. All Broll Mountain Vineyards wine and olive oil comes from their Murphys vineyards.

The spectacular setting of Broll Mountain Vineyards has been the site of multiple weddings and various meetings of the Calaveras Wine Grape Alliance and other organizations.

The Vineyard

Born from a dream of producing the best wine in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Betty and Bill Broll founded Broll Mountain Vineyards in 1998.  When Betty and Bill first saw the 25 acres of rustic land perched on top of a mountain overlooking Murphys, they knew that with love and vision, they had found an amazing piece of property that could make their dream become reality.  Immediately the transformation to Broll Mountain Vineyards began.  From their mantra of “good wine can only come from good grapes,” pre-existing vines were fused with the best root stock available.  Dirt was carved out of the mountain.  An old mine was closed off.  New vines were planted.  Beautiful new buildings with Tuscan influence were erected and pre-existing structures were modified.  Mining artifacts from the California Gold Rush found on the property were put on display.  Hundreds of olive trees and roses were planted, as well as other lush landscaping.  What was once a small mountain vineyard in disrepair is now the lush Broll Mountain Vineyards of today that produces award-winning wines.
